Moving Beyond Compliments and Criticisms

On this Sunday, Pastor Lydia preached on the gospel passage where things begin to get a bit tense with Jesus, his ministry, and his message. In Jesus, we have a model of someone who stays grounded and centered in his identity despite compliments or criticisms.

Pastor Lydia then invited us to examine ways that we are susceptible to compliments and criticisms and helped us reflect upon how we too, can remain more grounded in the truth of who we are.

Jackie Navarro was our liturgist and Grace Amador was our pianist. Our virtual choir sang, “Go Tell It On the Mountain” and “Just As I Am.” Thanks to Linda Wilford for recording the service.

Epiphany Sunday, January 2, 2022

This was Pastor Lydia’s very first Sunday at Walnut United Methodist Church. In her sermon, she gave us a background of how she, like the wisemen of Epiphany Sunday, “followed the star” in her life and invited the congregation to reflect upon the stars that have led them in their lives as well. It was also Communion Sunday.

Jeff Chamlee was our liturgist and Grace Amador was our pianist. Our virtual choir sang, “Go Tell It On the Mountain” and “Come To the Table.” Thanks to Linda Wilford for recording the service.
