Saturday, December 13, 2025 – Pastor’s Christmas Open House. Drop in anytime between 2–4 p.m. for tea, coffee, treats, warm conversation, and song as we celebrate the season together.

Sunday, December 14, 2025 at 10 a.m. – Third Sunday of Advent: Joy, featuring our annual Christmas Cantata! In the spirit of the choir’s mini-cantata, The Christmas Bedtime Story, we encourage children (and anyone young at heart) to wear pajamas to church. There might even be hot chocolate served at coffee fellowship that day!

Wednesday, December 17, 2025 at noon on Zoom – Book Club for An Unlikely Advent. We’ll be discussing Chapter 4.

Sunday, December 21, 2025 at 10 a.m. – Fourth Sunday of Advent, lighting the candle of Love and featuring our annual Children’s Christmas Pageant.

Welcome to fall–a feast for our senses: the turning of the leaves, the crunch of footsteps, the taste of warm cider, the smell of woodsmoke, and, of course, the gathering of our harvests.

Everything we eat and our gorgeous surroundings are earth’s gifts to us. And in response, let us give thanks for our earth’s generosity by centering our fall worship on strengthening our relationship with creation. To do this, we will be integrating the bestselling book, The Serviceberry: Abundance and Reciprocity in the Natural World by Robin Wall Kimmerer into our worship services and weekly book study. You’re welcome to grab this little book at your local library or bookstore. But even if you don’t read the book, the worship will still and always be accessible and soul-nourishing for you.

October 19 at 10 a.m. Pastor Jimmy Nih to guest preach and lead worship!

October 26 at 10 a.m. Halloween Service (Calling all goblins, witches, ballerinas and superheroes to worship with us! Are grown-ups allowed to dress up? Oh yes.) During the Halloween parade, the kids will take up an offering for mission project helping reconstruct a church in the Philippines, Soledad United Methodist Church in Nueva Ecija, to prevent flooding as it happens to so many places in that region.

November 9 at 10 a.m. We begin a new worship series, “Into the Unknown” and explore what it means to follow God with faith and courage—even when the path ahead is uncertain.

November 14 at 5:30 p.m. Food, Faith and Film night! This time, we’re watching the fun but also deeply thought-provoking movie, “Inside, Out 2.” For both children and grown-ups, it speaks to people of all ages. Come and enjoy food, faith, fellowship and an awesome film.

November 16 at 10 a.m. “Into the Unknown” Part Two.

November 23 at 10 a.m. “Into the Unknown” Part Three with a Thanksgiving potluck feast after the service! All are invited!

August may be known as the vacation month but the real fun is happening here at Walnut United Methodist Church. Join us each Sunday for soul-restoration and community. As the choir is taking a sabbath during August, different members of our congregation will provide special music. There’s solos and pianos and guitars–so much talent at our church!

Additionally, a vibrant children’s program is always offered during the worship hour.

It’s that time of year and registration for Vacation Bible School at our church has opened up! We make the best memories at VBS. This year, the theme is “Road Trip” and we’ll be rolling with crafts, dancing, singing, games, Bible stories, and best of all (and like years past), dinner for the entire family!

This year, the VBS dates are on the following Thursdays of July: July 10, July 17, July 24 and July 31st from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. with dinner beginning at 5:15 p.m. Kids of all ages are welcome and there will also be an adults-only spiritual program during those VBS hours. On the heels of celebrating our 60th Diamond Jubilee Anniversary celebration, we want to look ahead at our next 60 years. What can we do now to ensure a vibrant and spirit-filled congregation for future generations?

They say that the wise not only live for the present moment, but plant seeds that blesses many generations to follow.

C’mon out and join us for the next few weeks for our 2025 stewardship campaign, “The Next 60 Years.” Like always, a vibrant children’s program and Sunday School are offered every Sunday morning during our worship hour, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Saturday, November 9th at 10 a.m. at church: United Women in Faith Gathering

Sunday, November 10th at 10 a.m. at church: “The Next 60 Years” Part Two. At this service, third graders will also receive their very first Bibles!

Saturday, November 16th at church: A baby shower for Pastor Lydia at 1 p.m., whose baby girl is scheduled to arrive between Christmas and January! Here is a link to their family’s baby registry.

Sunday, November 17th at 10 a.m. at church: “The Next 60 Years” Part Three. At this service, finance leaders, Chris Green and Renu Taghaboni will also present budget charts to show the congregation how our tithes strengthen our ministries.

Sunday, November 24 at 10 a.m. at church: Stewardship Campaign Finale! Congregants will be invited to come forward to dedicate their pledge commitments for 2025. After the service, we will celebrate with a Thanksgiving potluck!

Saturday, November 30th at 10 a.m. at church: Everyone is invited to church for coffee, donuts, Christmas crafts and decorating the church for the season of Advent! Kids will also make their own Advent wreaths!

The season of fall has traditionally been celebrated with gatherings, harvests, abundance, and reflection. Join us for these exciting events together, as we sink our feet into all the blessings of fall.

Beginning Tuesday, September 24th, Pastor Lydia will host one hour drop-in Lectio Divina Bible Studies on zoom. These will take place every Tuesday from noon to 1 p.m. Join whenever you want and are available. To join on zoom, go to: www.zoom.us/join

Sunday, October 27th at 10 a.m. at church: All Saints Sunday, where we remember all of those who transitioned from this life to the next in 2024. You are also invited to wear Halloween costumes to church! The kids and youth will celebrate with a Halloween party during Sunday School!
