Responding With Kindness Instead of in Kind

On this Sunday, Pastor Lydia delved into the passage where Jesus urges us to “turn the other cheek.” What does this mean exactly? Is he promoting passivity or being taken advantage of? Or is there a totally different way of moving through the world that comes from a place of power, which isn’t lorded over others? Tune in and reflect on these questions together. It was a special Sunday as it was the choir’s first Sunday back with us with Grace Amador as our pianist. Jeff Chamlee was our liturgist. Thanks to Linda Wilford for recording the service.

The Ups and Downs of Life

On this Sunday, Pastor Lydia preached on the provocative version of the beatitudes recorded in Luke 6:17-26. The congregation contributed to the formation of the sermon by sharing how to posture ourselves when our lives are full of so many ups and downs.

Louisa Amezcua was our liturgist and Grace Amador was our pianist. Our virtual choir sang “Come Christians, Join to Sing” and “Appalachian Grace.” Thanks to Linda Wilford for recording the service.

What a Catch

On this Sunday, Pastor Lydia preached on Luke 5:1-11, where Jesus helps Simon and the rest of the fishermen catch even more fish than they ever asked for or imagined–even though Jesus himself is not a fisherman. Could Jesus help us in those areas of our lives that we are hesitant to hand over to him because we assume he doesn’t have the know-how or the skills? Well, tune in and let us know what you think!

Carol Coy was our liturgist and Grace Amador was our pianist. Our virtual choir sang “Come Christians, Join to Sing” and “Come to the Table.”

Thanks to Linda Wilford for recording the service.
